"when I grow up I want to be an artist"

I woke up the other day and realised that I have grown up and if thinking about art for most moments of my waking world means that you are an artist, I think I may have made it.

I am completely and utterly obsessed with art.  When I am not making it myself I am enjoying the creations of others.

My art career began when I was growing up.  My mom encouraged me to learn to sew and create and to make sculptures and other crafts.  My dad could make anything that you showed him a picture of.  This taught me that anything was possible you just needed to learn how.

I gave up the thought of being an artist for "a proper job" and after travelling for several years decided to get serious about having a career.  I choose psychology.  It was though this that I rediscovered my love for art and became interested in how art heals.  This led me to train as an art therapist.

Completing a full circle has finally led me home to my life as an artist, based in Western Australia, my home town.
